While performing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday (April 5), Jacoby Shaddix and co. brought out former American Idol winner and country star Underwood to join them for a performance of their collaborative track ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)’.
Though the two acts have performed the track in the studio before, this marked the first time they’ve performed it together in front of an audience. Check out fan-shot footage of the performance below.
Later on in the night, Papa Roach once again brought out Underwood for their closing song, ‘Last Resort’. “Where the fuck you at, Carrie? You know the words right?,” Shaddix asked before handing her a mic.

Papa Roach teamed up with Underwood for the suicide prevention anthem ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)’ last year, donating a portion of its proceeds to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
Speaking to NME about why the topic remains so close to their heart, Shaddix shared: “We’ve been singing about it since the beginning. Our first song, ‘Last Resort’ was about a cry for help. It’s always been part of our story and a part of my life. I’ve had my own highs and lows and I’ve come to an understanding of how to grapple with it. I know the darkness, and by putting it into my music it’s connected me with so many thousands upon thousands of people.
“Every day that I’m on tour, I’ll meet somebody who will tell me these exact words: ‘Your music saved my life.’ That wasn’t our intention when we started the music, but the more open and honest I got with the songs, the more I realised that I wasn’t alone in my struggle.”

He continued: “I sit here as a testament of strength and hope, and that’s what I want to share with the world. I want to give back because the fans have given us so much through all the years. They’ve given me the opportunity to chase this dream continuously and keep peeling back the layers of myself through this music. I’ve become more aware of my wounds and I just want to do good. I don’t want to bleed on people, I want to patch it up and do right.”
As for Underwood, she recently made headlines when she showcased her heavy metal knowledge while judging a round of American Idol auditions, joining a contestant to sing along to Korn and Drowning Pool classics.
