Paul McCartney’s life in the aftermath of The Beatles is explored in a new documentary.
Directed by Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom, Best Of Enemies), Paul McCartney: Man On The Run charts the musician’s career, including the rise of his new band Wings, following the break-up of The Beatles.

The documentary features archival footage alongside interviews with McCartney, Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon and Paul’s daughters Mary and Stella McCartney.
Speaking about the film, Neville said: “When people talk about the biggest acts of the 1970s, the list rarely includes Paul McCartney. Not because he wasn’t big – he was undeniably one of the biggest acts of the decade – but because of what he’d already done.”
He added: “Paul had been in the biggest band in the world, which in turn had created itself its own gravitational force. In my film, Man On The Run, I wanted to look at Paul’s impossible run from that long shadow of the Beatles.”
Paul McCartney: Man On The Run is released in select cinemas on February 19, and arrives on Amazon Prime Video from February 27, 2026.
What songs are featured in Man On The Run?
A 12-song companion album has been released alongside the documentary, which includes various Wings tracks and three previously unreleased songs.
These are ‘Arrow Through Me (Rough Mix)’, an early mix from the 1979 album sessions for ‘Back To The Egg’, a version of ‘Live And Let Die’ from the 1980 concert film Rockshow, and ‘Gotta Sing Gotta Dance’ from the 1973 The James Paul McCartney TV Special.
