The singer dropped her latest album, ‘Guts’, in 2023 as the follow-up to her critically acclaimed breakthrough album ‘Sour’ in 2021, since then, she has embarked on some huge headline shows, including a stop at Glastonbury 2025 that saw her bring out The Cure’s Robert Smith as a special guest.
Now, it looks like the singer is gearing up to make a return, as fans in LA and London have spotted clues, suggesting that new music is on the way.
The first was spotted in Los Angeles on March 13, when a big wall in her signature purple shade appeared overnight, and featured her ‘OR’ initials in a new cursive font. Soon afterwards, fans noticed that the official website of the singer was updated too with matching elements.

Then, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the wall had been repainted to be a lighter shade of purple – with the website then doing the same – before becoming a light pink colour. This, paired with the new font, seems to suggest that Rodrigo is ready to kick start a new era, and is changing her palette from purple to pink.
The clues didn’t stop there either, as one fan then found a single, heart-shaped pink lock in London on Sunday March 15, which had the ‘OR’ initials in the new font, as well as the word “April” written on the side.

That same day, the website and the wall in Los Angeles then changed colour again, becoming a different shade of pink.
The colour of the site is now closer to that of the eye-catching dress that Rodrigo wore at the Vanity Fair Oscar party over the weekend – further indication that a new chapter is on the way.
Unsurprisingly, the cryptic updates seen over the past week have got fans talking online, with many already speculating about when new music could be announced and how it might sound.
“The font reminds me of ’90s and early 2000s rom coms in the best way,” one fan said on Reddit, while someone else added: “[the font] reminds me of the cure!!! Hope they are a big influence on this album”.

It already seems likely that Rodrigo’s next batch of music will be influenced by The Cure, particularly after she brought the band’s frontman Robert Smith out at Glastonbury to perform ‘Friday I’m In Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’.
She later shared some photographs from Worthy Farm, including her hanging out and doing shots with Smith backstage, and going to bed wearing a Cure T-shirt. She was also captured on video while on someone’s shoulders during Pulp’s secret set.
In December, she said that she has recently found inspiration from the likes of New Order and Joy Division, as well as The White Stripes and Bikini Kill.
Before then, she said in 2023 that she had been to watch The Cure and Depeche Mode live with her dad, and added that her parents were mainly into “grunge, rock and alternative” music when she was growing up, which rubbed off on her.
That aligned with what the pop star said during a conversation with NME in 2021, when she explained said both her mother and father were “music heads” and had encouraged her artistic endeavours from an early age.
“I love pop-punk music; I love grunge music; I love country music and folk music,” she explained at the time. “I think, honestly, you can see little influences of all of those genres in my [debut] album [‘Sour’].”
In terms of other influences, last summer also saw Rodrigo bring out Weezer to perform with her at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, and invite David Byrne to join her on stage at Governors Ball in New York City. Later, the singer shared a David Byrne cover of ‘Drivers License’ and announced a vinyl reissue to mark the single’s fifth anniversary.
While the singer hasn’t dropped a new album since 2023’s ‘Guts’, she did contribute a song for the star-studded ‘Help(2)’ charity album, which raised money for War Child.
Her song came at the end of the tracklist – which also featured Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines D.C., Wet Leg, Young Fathers, English Teacher, Pulp, Damon Albarn and many more – and was titled ‘The Book Of Love’.
Around the time of the release earlier this month, producer James Ford spoke to NME about the tracks involved, and said that he wanted Rodrigo to be involved as she “has been fairly outspoken on political issues and always wears her heart on her sleeve.”“We talked to her about being part of it, and she came up with the idea of this cover version. I really love this song and was happily surprised that she suggested it,” he added.
“She turned up and nailed it, take after take. She delivered like an absolute pro and was totally lovely about the whole thing. The weirdness for me was that we set up the session and I ended up back in hospital. I was having a blood transfusion during the recording, but because of Zoom I could hear what was going on through the desk and talk to everyone through their headphones. Then they sent me the parts and I mixed it. It was quite a bizarre experience.”
