Billy McFarland has insisted that Fyre Festival 2 is definitely in the works, and has even shared a timeline to prove it.

It comes as the festival and its founder previously announced that it was making its “return” from May 30 to June 2 this year at Isla Mujeres, Mexico. However, those plans later changed, after the Isla Mujeres tourist board said: “We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it. For us, this is an event that does not exist.”
It was then said to be taking place at Playa Del Carmen, although last week reports were shared where officials for the Mexican city denied any involvement.
Now, it seems that McFarland is insistent on proving to festival goers that the 2025 edition will be up and running – sharing a timeline of events that have happened to get everything in place.
Taking to Instagram – both on his personal account and on the page for Fyre Festival – the organiser reiterated that the event was going to take place in Playa Del Carmen and shared photos to prove that he has been “working directly with the government of Playa del Carmen (PDC) and their officials since March 5, 2025 to ensure a safe and successful event.”
The timeline included a number of ‘Artist Invitation Letters’, which were apparently sent out in mid-March, as well as permits for tourism, special events, environmental aspects and more.

Other noteworthy events in the timeline included a Government of PDC and Secretary of Citizen Security Instagram Post and a Secretary of Citizen Security X Post on March 28, as well as a “Screen recording of the Government of PDC’s Official Instagram account” on April 2.
“All media reports suggesting our team has not been working with the government of PDC are simply inaccurate and based on misinformation,” McFarland wrote in the caption. “FYRE has operated as a good partner with PDC government and has followed the proper processes and procedures to lawfully host an event.”
He continued: “We will be sharing all relevant permits, payments, and communications” – indicating that more details will be shared soon.
As highlighted by Loudwire, McFarland has also claimed that “FYRE Festival 2 held a live press conference in collaboration with the PDC government” on March 27. Find the post above.
Already, tickets have been sold for Fyre Festival 2 and prices range from $1,400 to $25,000 (£1,081-£19,305). Premium packages are being priced as high as $1.1million (£850,000).
It has billed itself as a “three-day escape to the Mexican Caribbean where you’ll explore by day alongside your favourite talent and come together at night to celebrate with music”. Fyre Festival 2 also claims that it will feature “adventures led by international and local talent, taking guests on boundary-pushing excursions by day and uniting for intimate beach-side performances at night”.

No talent has been announced as performing at the rumoured event yet, although former NFL star Antonio Brown recently claimed that he had been booked for the festival.
First developed by McFarland eight years ago, the botched festival Fyre Fest was originally set to run over two weekends on a private beach in the Bahamas but was revealed to be fraudulent once punters arrived on the scene, with inadequate conditions and a lack of food and water. The debacle was then captured in the now-iconic Netflix documentary FYRE.
McFarland was released from prison in 2022 after he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraud. The original edition in 2017 was reportedly set to include performances from Blink-182, Major Lazer, Disclosure, Migos, Pusha T, Tyga and more.
While details about the alleged Fyre Festival 2 remain uncertain, last year a former Fyre Festival investor Andy King warned of “a lot of red flags” over the event’s planned reboot.
In an interview, he claimed that he had recently met up with McFarland, and claimed that the disgraced businessman hadn’t “learned a lot in prison”.
“He’s shooting from the hip again. Billy has a gift. He’s got a lot of charisma. He knows how to pull people in,” he said to BBC. “I’m just seeing a lot of red flags and a lot of red lights. And I feel bad. It saddens me.”
