Playing the Mojave tent yesterday (April 12), the icons of kids TV joined the likes of fellow performers Charli XCX and Benson Boone in bringing out unexpected artists for their sets.

The Saturday slot marked their first solo performance at the festival since 2010, with Yo Gabba Gabba! creators Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz telling TMZ that the characters got such a positive response when walking around festival grounds in costume last year, they were asked to do a full performance.

Playing to a surprisingly packed audience, the children’s musical act brought out Flava Flav, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Portugal. The Man and Thundercat.

Last year, the latter joined them on a spin-off to show, Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, which also saw contributions from Flea, Anderson .Paak, Betty Who, Diplo, and Kurt Vile.

Several X/Twitter users took to the app to say they were shocked how much they enjoyed the surprise additions, with one joking: “Mainstage next year?”. Others nodded to the “overflowing” crowd they drew, saying the set was “so camp and fun”. Check out more social media reactions below.

Elsewhere this weekend, Lady Gaga performed a theatrical five-act set, and A. G. Cook brought out Danny Brown, performing a host of tracks before remixing Charli XCX’s ‘Party 4 U’.

Charli XCX brought out Lorde, Billie Eilish and Troye Sivan for her highly-awaited performance, and there was controversy during Kneecap‘s set after they led an anti-Margaret Thatcher chant, with fans reporting the online stream had cut out shortly after.

YouTube will be livestreaming the festival via the Coachella YouTube channel. Check back here for all our Coachella updates.
