A Lily Allen documentary set to cover an “intimate portrait of her life and career” has been announced.

The as yet untitled Amazon Prime Video film is set to land in 2027 and comes off the back of her recent album ‘West End Girl‘.
According to a press release the film will be directed by Mat Whitecross who was behind the Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams documentaries, and will chart Allen’s “extraordinary journey, from the ‘Queen of MySpace’ who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today. As a pioneering woman in modern music, Lily’s sharp wit and candid storytelling directly paved the way for a generation of today’s biggest female artists.”
Featuring interviews by those who “know her best” the film is a “story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms. This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”
Along with a release on Prime Amazon Video, the upcoming documentary will also be screened in cinemas globally.
Allen recently starred in Virginia Woolf’s Night And Day alongside Haley Bennett and Timothy Spall.
The film, based on the 1919 book of the same name by Virginia Woolf, also stars Elyas M’Barek, Jack Whitehall, Jennifer Saunders, Sally Phillips, Misia Butler, Alex Macqueen, Simon Phillips and Frances Barber. Allen played Mary Datchet who organises the Suffragettes.
Elsewhere Allen recently responded to criticism of her recent ‘West End Girl’ tour, saying she is “extremely proud of it”.
It came after Allen chose not to play any of her older hits. However, a string section called the Dallas Minor Trio reimaginined some of the star’s classic tunes in the support slot.
NME caught Allen live at the London Palladium in March as part of her smaller tour. Our three-star review called that show “a powerful retelling of one of pop’s most gut-wrenching albums”.
In other news, Allen’s ex-husband David Harbour recently broke his silence on the “weird” experience of her detailing their break-up on ‘West End Girl’.
