The New York band were last active with their fourth album ‘Death By Rock And Roll’, which was released in 2021 and included the Tom Morello-featuring single ‘And So It Went’.

Since then, they have released a compilation of acoustic recordings and cover songs named ‘Other Worlds’ and played huge shows supporting The Rolling Stones and AC/DC, and now they are back with ‘For I Am Death’, a track powered by muscular riffs from guitarist Ben Phillips and raspy, rebellious vocals from Taylor Momsen.

Momsen has said: “With ‘For I Am Death,’ I want the music to speak for itself, allowing the listener to decide what it means to them. The interpretation of the song might align with my own, or it might come from the heart of the audience. Either way, I’m excited to see what people take away from it and what it means to them. Oh, and rock and roll will never die.”

More new music from The Pretty Reckless is expected in the coming months.

During their recent stint as opening band on AC/DC’s ‘Power Up’ tour, Momsen was bitten on the leg by a bat on stage in Seville. “There’s a fucking flying bat on my leg right now! Can someone help me please?” she yelled, with her band and crew members helping get the animal off of her. “I must really be a witch!” she declared.

Momsen, a former actor known for playing Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, has also spoken in recent years about being “relentlessly” bullied for her starring role in How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

“The Grinch changed my life in a multitude of ways – one of them being, I was made fun of relentlessly,” she said. “Every time I would start a new school or go somewhere else, I don’t even think the kids knew my name. I was just Grinch Girl. Not even the character name, just Grinch Girl. I got used to it, but it was alienating.”

Momsen also fronted a band including Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show in 2022. “It was an absolute honour to be asked to sing at that,” Momsen told NME. “I loved Taylor dearly. What an incredible musician and one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life.”
