The Guns N’ Roses guitarist posted a statement yesterday (9 April) to his 3.4million followers, where he wrote: “I’d like to inform you that I’ve decided to step away from Twitter/X and will no longer be active on the platform.”

He further explained that “this was a considered decision after repeated hacks, and it reflects a shift in how I’d like to stay connected moving forward.”

The musician will still be found on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, where he will be “posting regular updates”.

We last spoke to Slash in 2023, where he told NME about his love for movie soundtracks in the wake of his scoring and producing 2023 horror movie The Breach.

Speaking about film composers he looked up to, he told us: “Well, John Carpenter is great. I love Danny Elfman, he’s a genius. Hans Zimmer can be great too. John Williams and all these guys are super brilliant, but then there are some smaller names that maybe people only know for one movie. I mean people like [Icelandic musician] Hildur Guðnadóttir who did Joker – that was an amazing fucking score.

“I also think [Radiohead guitarist] Johnny Greenwood is a great fucking composer. There Will Be Blood was one of the best scores of the last 20 years.”

Recently, Guns N’ Roses announced AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter as their new drummer. Carpenter’s recruitment came one day after the “amicable” departure of longtime drummer Frank Ferrer.

Carpenter has been part of AWOLNATION’s set up since 2014, and he has also previously worked with GNR’s bassist Duff McKagan’s band Loaded, Adam Lambert and A Perfect Circle.

In other news, Guns N’ Roses’ manager claimed that Slash and Izzy Stradlin once took an entire drug stash to avoid an airport bust.
