Here is a full breakdown of how the leveling system works and the major changes.
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered has changed its leveling system so that all the game’s skills give XP towards leveling. Each level up provides you with 12 points you can assign to any attribute. You are still limited to only investing in 3 attributes with each level, but you can change between them with each level up.
Some attributes can only be improved once per level. For example, Luck costs 4 points and can only be upgraded once per level. One additional thing to keep in mind is that major skills give more experience towards leveling when compared to minor skills, so they are the best way to maximise your leveling journey.
The original game’s leveling system was straight up broken, with you accidentally being underleveled in some areas and overleveled in others. However, this makes way more sense and works far better for an RPG of this scale. Reception to this change has been overwhelmingly positive from players who won’t have to deal with the grindy and busted skills and progression of the original release.
Remember that many old and classic glitches, exploits, and leveling bugs still work in the remaster, so be sure to take advantage of them.
This is one of a huge number of changes Bethesda has made to the remaster, and you can find a full list of every change, alteration, and tweak here on the game’s official Reddit.
