Watch Tennis bring out Matt Berry at final show

Alaina Moore of Tennis and Matt Berry

Tennis have played their final live show, and brought out Matt Berry as a surprise guest. Check out footage of the gig below.

The gig comes as the Denver duo, consisting of married couple Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, announced that they would be bringing their time in Tennis to an end earlier this year.

In April, they confirmed that the group would be going on an indefinite hiatus, and shared details of their final studio album and a farewell tour.

Last night (October 23), they played the final gig of that farewell tour, taking to the stage at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London.

As well as breaking out fan favourites and newer tracks, the duo also surprised fans by bringing out Berry as a special guest.

Although he is best recognised for his time as an actor and a comedian, he is also a musician and has released a total of 11 studio albums since 2005.

For last night’s gig, he joined the duo on stage and took on keyboard duties alongside Moore and Riley. Check out more footage from the night below.

After they announced their departure from Tennis, the married couple went on to drop their seventh and last studio album ‘Face Down In The Garden’ on April 25.

At the time, Moore said: “Patrick and I spent most of our 20s and all of our 30s focused on Tennis. It has been the most joyous, bewildering, challenging, and humbling experience. After finishing ‘Face Down In The Garden’, it became clear that we had said everything we wanted to say and achieved everything we wanted to achieve with our band.”

“This will be our last studio album, at least in this configuration as Tennis. We are ready to pursue other creative projects and to make space in our lives for new things. In that light, the upcoming tour feels more poignant, like a concluding thought,” she added. “These two kids from Denver who only ever dreamed of playing a few house shows are very fulfilled. Perhaps we’ll see you on the road. As always, thank you.”

Their debut album, ‘Cape Dory’, was shared in 2011, and since then the band have gone on to perform at festivals like Coachella and support huge names like Haim, Spoon, and The Shins.

The two of them also wrote ‘Borrowed Time’, an original song for Rick And Morty, which appeared in the episode Forgetting Sarick Mortshall on the show’s fifth season.

They kicked off the US leg of their farewell tour on May 16.
