Created by trans-rights activists Jake and Hannah Graf MBE, ‘Trans Is Human’ will take over the London venue’s large-scale screens on November 17, with the free installation soundtracked by Yungblud’s ‘Idols’ track ‘Hello, Heaven, Hello’.

He’d previously described the song as “a journey of self-reclamation—a goodbye to the past and how you may have known or perceived me before, and a ‘hello’ to the future and where I’m going.”

While saying he was “honoured” to be involved with the exhibition, the musician, real name Dominic Harrison, highlighted the exhibition’s celebration of “truth, identity and the beauty of being yourself, unapologetically”.

“That’s something I’ve always tried to celebrate in everything I do,” he added. “I’m buzzing to play even a small part in telling these powerful stories.”

The exhibition is set to feature portraits of 13 trans people from across the UK, shot by Mariano Vivanco, with each image accompanied by their personal stories.

“The idea for ‘Trans Is Human’ came about following years and years of misinformation and the demonization of the UK’s trans community that left us almost entirely dehumanized,” said Jake and Hannah in a press release.

“Working with Mariano to allow these very human people to soar was an absolute pleasure and thrill.”

“Now, at such a pivotal moment for the UK trans community, as we face the possible loss of many of our most basic human rights, ‘Trans Is Human’ is more vital than ever,” they added. “We are supremely grateful to the Outernet team and Yungblud for elevating the campaign and helping to remind the world that trans people are human too.”

Scott Neal, Outernet Creative Director, Culture and Lifestyle pointed to a recent YouGov poll that showed 84 per cent of trans people in Britain feel unsafe in public spaces. “‘Trans Is Human’ showcases the humanity behind individual trans stories to highlight that gender identity is just a part of a person’s story,” he said.

“At Outernet, equality, fairness and safety are values we live by every single day. We thank Hannah and Jake for creating this piece and we’re proud to display it for everyone.”

Yungblud, meanwhile, released the first part of his latest album ‘Idols’ in June, and it hit Number One in the UK. He told NME of the album days before the first part’s release: “Part one is about the reclamation of yourself: ‘All you are is a self-fulfilling prophecy / A product of your own temptation.’

“Part two is the dark and downward spiral to the inevitable realisation that I’m not going to be here forever – who do I want to spend my life with? Mortality. Part two plummets you back down to earth, and it’s a little bit more cynical.”

His EP with Aerosmith, ‘One More Time’, is set to come out on November 21. They released a single from the EP, ‘My Only Angel’, on September 19, marking the hard rock icons’ first original release in over 12 years.

The two acts worked together earlier that month to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs, Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joining Yungblud on stage.

Elsewhere, Yungblud added more dates to his UK and Ireland ‘Idols’ arena tour next year, and you can buy tickets here.
