Released last month, Cregger’s take on the long-running survival horror franchise has become the best-reviewed video game movie of all time and taken more than $100million at the box office.
And now the film’s original soundtrack, composed by Hays and Ryan Holladay, is getting a vinyl release. The 1LP includes the complete score pressed on blood red vinyl, alongside an insert with exclusive illustrations and liner notes from the director and composers. According to a press release, the music “captures the tension, terror, and pervasive chaos engulfing the city of Raccoon City.”
The Resident Evil film soundtrack vinyl is set to launch in February 2027 but you can pre-order it now via Black Screen Records and Milan.

Rather than a direct adaptation of any of the Resident Evil games, Cregger’s film tells an original story that runs parallel to the events of Resident Evil 2. “In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos,” reads a description of the “thrilling and terrifying reinvention” of the franchise.
However in the lead up to the film’s release, Cregger had to defend his decision not to adapt one of the game’s storylines. “My only hope is that they’ll see the movie regardless of their skepticism [and] they will recognise all of the love for the games that are in this movie. This is not me just telling a story and slapping Resident Evil on it so I can get a budget. This is me telling a Resident Evil story.”
Following the success of Resident Evil, producer Roy Lee is working on an adaptation of psychological horror Silent Hill.
